Uzbekistan raises its tourism profile at major travel exhibition in Moscow

The Uzbek pavilion set up as part of MITT, a major travel exhibition held at Moscow’s Expocenter on March 20-23, was a big success, with visitors expressing admiration for the country’s original culture and arts as well as a desire to travel to Central Asia’s most populous country, which is known as a Pearl of the Orient. Many of the attendees said Uzbekistan is a great travel destination at any time of the year.
Local and international medics join forces to “heal smiles”

Thirty international medical professionals affiliated with Operation Smile, a major international charity for children, examined and conducted reconstructive surgery on around 180 children with facial deformities (cleft lips, cleft palates and facial burns) in Tashkent. The charity-based event was held on March 15-20 at Tashkent Pediatric Institute as part of the Family Health Project overseen by the Women’s Council.

The National Breast Cancer Association’s coffers are set to swell as the major Uzbek charity is joining forces with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the largest breast cancer charity in the US, for a second year running to raise funds for the benefit of Uzbek breast cancer patients. As in the previous year, tens of thousands of people are expected to join Susan G. Komen Uzbekistan Race for the Cure across the country.
Navruz celebrations at UN headquarters

Over 1,500 people, including diplomats, UN representatives, members of international organizations, the academic community and the public, attended Navruz celebrations at the United Nations headquarters co-organized by Fund Forum Representative Office in New York and the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan at the UN.
Sarmishsai Gorge venue for upcoming 'Echo of Centuries' Festival

The Sixth ‘Asrlar Sadosi’ (Echo of Centuries) Festival of Traditional Culture is slated for May 4-5, 2013 in Navoi Region, a decision announced at Fund Forum’s annual end-of-the-year conference in late December 2012. Following last year’s festivities that put the spotlight on the ancient Tuproq-Qala Fortress in Karakalpakstan, the Festival is moving on to the Sarmishsai Gorge in Navoi Region, one of Uzbekistan’s natural treasure troves of pre-historic art.
‘The Echo of Centuries’ Festival presents itself in Budapest

Fund Forum’s Asrlar Sadosi (Echo of Centuries) Festival of Traditional Culture made a presence at Utazas-Tourism Exhibition in the capital of Hungary, Budapest. Over 700 Hungarian and international travel companies, tour operators, hotels and airline companies participated in the major event.
‘Guli’ stages presentation in Moscow’s Soho Rooms

On February 28, Guli fashion label presented its Spring-Summer 2013 Collection, its first-ever perfumes, ‘Mysterieuse’ for women and ‘Victorious’ for men, as well as the music video ‘How Dare’, a single from the first English album by Googoosha (the stage name of Gulnara Karimova, the designer behind GULI label) at Soho Rooms in Moscow.
Fund Forum holds presentation in Spain

Fund Forum held a presentation at the representative office of Castile–La Mancha autonomous community of Spain, located near Madrid’s Puerta del Sol Square. The event, which sought to promote Uzbekistan’s culture and contemporary developments in Spain, was attended by famous Spanish writer and historian Luis-Regino Mateo del Peral.
American stylist incorporates Uzbek fabrics into exquisite designs

On the last day of Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, American celebrity stylist and fashion designer Kithe Brewster showed his Fall 2013 collection, which included pieces from Uzbek national fabrics that he had brought from Tashkent following his workshop held as part of Style.Uz Art Week 2011. Inspired by his trip to Uzbekistan, the designs drew acclaim from those gathered for the show.
Leading American doctors to attend workshop in Tashkent

A workshop titled ‘Uzbek-American Dialog: the State of Personalized Medicine and Modern Aspects of Breast Cancer Screening and Prevention in Women’ is slated for February 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Vakhidov Specialised Center for Surgery in Tashkent. Workshop attendees will include three leading American doctors: Dr. Vladimir Zelman, Dr. Stephen F. Sener, and Dr. Christy A. Russel.
