The National Breast Cancer Association of Uzbekistan, a partner of Fund Forum, participated in the first Global Women's Cancer Summit convened in Washington in early February by Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the largest breast cancer charity in the US. The event was a rally around the challenge of reducing the global burden of women's cancers, and unveiled a new effort to improve breast cancer outcomes.

Around 50 artworks, including pieces by Uzbek artists, will go on display as part of ‘At The Crossroads’, the first-ever selling exhibition of Contemporary Art from Central Asia and the Caucasus to be organized by Sotheby’s, one of the world’s largest auction houses. The pioneering exhibition will take place at Sotheby’s New Bond Street premises in London from March 4 to March 12, 2013.

On February 11, one of South Korea’s top gynecologists, Bum-Chae Choi, examined 19 Uzbek women affected by infertility at Salus Vita Medical Center in Tashkent. The charity-based diagnostics is part of the Family Health project overseen by the Women’s Council, which has co-organized the event along with Fund Forum and Salus Vita Health Clinic.

A presentation of Fund Forum’s Asrlar Sadosi (Echo of Centuries) Festival of Traditional Culture took place at Spain’s annual International Tourism Fair (Fitur), held from January 30 to February 2 in Madrid. The presentation was held with support from the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Spain.

Ten breast care specialists will return to Uzbekistan on February 16 following a two-month internship at Dr. Abdurrahman Yurtaslan Oncology Training & Research Hospital in Ankara. The joint project was launched under a cooperation memorandum inked in July 2012 by the Breast Cancer National Association of Uzbekistan (NBCAU) and the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA).

An exhibition presenting artworks by contemporary Uzbek painters opened its doors in Shanghai on January 4. Dedicated to the 21st anniversary of Uzbek-Chinese diplomatic relations and 19 years since Tashkent and Shanghai became sister cities, the art show was organized the General Consulate of Uzbekistan in Shanghai, Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (SPAFFC), Fund Forum, the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and Hongqiao district administration.

Forty-five winners of Kelajak Ovozi (Voice of the Future) Talented Youth Contest 2012 were saluted at an awards ceremony on November 26. This year the contest drew a record number of applications from 79,354 boys and girls aged 15-25. The participants came forward with developments and proposals in architecture, design, information technologies, traditional and applied art, literature and journalism.

The eagerly-awaited Seventh M&TVA Award Ceremony on December 22 unveiled and saluted the winners of the coveted accolade. Seventeen awards were presented to those who have made waves in the domain of music, TV and video arts in 2012, with the chairperson of M&TVA jury, Gulnara Karimova, presenting grants from GULI brand to winners of Yangi Avlod Children’s Art Festival, fashion designers and musicians.

On December 20, Fund Forum’s annual end-of-the-year online conference drew well over 4,000 questions from the broad public and summed up the breadth of the organization’s activity in 2012. Seated at 60 computers at the Youth Art Palace, the panel included Uzbek culture and art professionals, singers, actors, grantees and doctors that were involved in far-reaching events held by Fund Forum in 2012.
